Wooden Tray & Sides
Plan 6 - Episode 28
In Episode 28 of the Flatbed Felix Pedal Car Build, Ezio cuts and builds the wooden tray and side panels. Vaughan fits the hinges and mounts the entire assembly onto the rear of the pedal car. This episode focuses on basic wood-cutting techniques and following plans to get everything aligned and installed correctly.
Skills You'll Learn
Ezio uses the cutting guide to get the most out of a full sheet of plywood. He demonstrates how to cut the tray and sides with a track saw, explaining the best techniques for working across the grain. Once all the pieces are cut, he hands them over to Vaughan for assembly.
Vaughan checks the parts and notes that the hinges need to be reversed to suit the folding side panels. Following the plans, he assembles everything using wood glue and screws, then fits the toggle latches to lock the rear tailgate. He starts with a mockup on the workbench to ensure the tray fits before mounting it to the car. The plans include all the measurements needed for correct placement and alignment.
Tools You'll Need
